Training Therapy

An injury can be a step toward a triumph –
or a dead end – depending on how we cope with it.

Regaining Strength from Setbacks

Injuries, operations and illnesses: top athletes like Hermann Maier demonstrate that setbacks can often be short phases along the way to new all-time highs. In modern training therapy, the rehabilitation time is utilized to the greatest advantage to get the patient back into shape.

Training therapy – which relies on active treatment using devices and tensile apparatuses – has abundantly proven its worth in orthopedia, traumatology, rheumatology and internal medicine. The patient is active and mobile again soon after an injury or operation.

Individual coaching

Endurance, mobility, strength and metabolic training techniques are used to specifically develop certain parts of the musculoskeletal system, as well as enhance the patient’s overall fitness and endurance. Stationary bicycles, treadmills, the thermal swimming pools and diverse, special apparatuses are used thereby. After an individual introductory session with trained physiotherapists, the training continues either in individual coaching sessions or independently. After the sports medical tests are completed, individual training emphases are established under a doctor’s supervision. Training progress is assessed regularly and a gradual intensification of the workouts is achieved through additions and variations to the exercises.

If needed, an electronic pulse measurement system and continuous lactate measurements oversee the function of the cardiovascular system and muscle metabolism.

Medical Training Therapy

The therapy facility in the Center for Health & Sports offers:
  • Training on a sequence of apparatuses in fully equipped training therapy rooms. Such progressive workouts enable all the muscle groups of the musculoskeletal system to be strengthened.
  • Various other tensile apparatuses, on which you can perform three-dimensional exercises and motion patterns specific to particular sports.
  • A wide selection of modern cardio-equipment, e.g. bicycles with various computer programs, a hand crank ergometer, as well as steppers and a treadmill for different warm-up and endurance programs.
  • Selected small apparatuses used in conventional therapies (e.g. mini-trampolines, spinning tops and gym mats) with which you can create an individually coordinated training session.
  • Computer-supported equipment for isokinetic training and strength measurements.
  • Alternatives from traditional Chinese medicine and mental training methods, to augment the therapy’s success.

Training Therapy Offers Something for Everyone

Medical training therapy is suitable for all ages. It helps everyone – from people who are in poor health, to those who are health-conscious, to top athletes. It makes allowances for one’s individual performance capabilities; it takes place under medical supervision and is therefore the ideal link back to everyday living and athletic activities for many patients.

Under certain circumstances, medical training therapy can by prescribed by a doctor. We recommend you undergo a medical exam beforehand if it is to be used as a preventative measure. In that case, some health funds and insurance companies voluntarily assume part of the cost.
