The team’s main objectives are their supervisory duties in the Center for Health & Sports in the Alpen Therme Gastein and their tasks as coaches. Their counseling roles are also vitally important, for they attend to a number of top athletes as well as to senior management members in the fields of sports medicine and mental coaching.

Mag. Bernd Metzner – Sports scientist

"There are no born losers. We learn to lose, and therefore we can also learn to win again."

An experienced sports scientist, Mr. Metzner has been working as a counselor and coach at the Alpen Therme Gastein spa for many years. After receiving training in the areas of back exercise instruction, aqua-fitness, communication instruction, musculoskeletal training for track and field athletes, plus several years as a football/juniors coach, he now manages the Fitness Center in the Alpen Therme Gastein.

A father of two children, Mr. Metzner supervises hobby athletes and patients with a great deal of empathy and specialized knowledge. As the personal trainer for top athletes, he will also be a competent companion for you as you move toward your fitness goals.

Consultant Prof. Dr. Norbert Bachl – Sports Physician

An experienced sports physician and trailblazer for sports medicine in Austria, Dr. Bachl directs the external laboratory of the University of Vienna’s Institute for Sports Science.

As an expert in anti-aging and preventive medicine, Dr. Bachl’s expertise provides the broad-spectrum, academic support that is necessary when it comes to putting scientific knowledge into practice.

Director of the Institute for Sports Science (ISW) at the University of Vienna, director of the Sports and Performance Physiology department at the ISW, director of the Austrian Institute for Sports Medicine, president of the European Association for Sports Medicine (EFSMA) and a member of the IOC’s Medical Commission.
